My name is Ray Combs. I have always been a "car
nut" and have enjoyed anything connected to hot
rods and racing since I was a kid. I worked as a
mechanic at a local garage in Modesto California
during high school and also after I graduated (1964)
until I joined the military.
I joined the Navy in 1966 and started my job as an
Aviation Electrician working on drones for the first
couple years. Then I was attached to VF-191 a
fighter squadron of F8J's Crusaders out of San
Diego, Top Gun. I was deployed to Vietnam on the
Oriskany (Aircraft Carrier CVA34) in 1969 and
spent most of the year there.
When I got back to the states I got out of the
military and began working my way through four
years of college. I finished with a Bachelor of
Science in Criminology and got my first job with a
small agency on the west side of Merced County,
California. I moved from there to a job as Deputy
Sheriff then on to the City of Turlock to finish out
the next 22 years.
I retired five years ago after 27 years in Law
Enforcement in California. I worked for three
different Agencies and worked my way through the
ranks going from patrol training officer jumping to
Lieutenant. From then on I was promoted two more
times to Commander then Captain/Assistant Chief.
About half of my career was devoted to
management. I had a really great bunch of people
working for me and I had one of the bests bosses
and friend a person could ask for.
I really can't say enough about the team of
professionals I worked with, an outstanding group of

who is best and we all know most of it isn't true.

I recently read an add by one oil company that sort
of showed an ASTM test but didn't list any figures
and didn't name the "leading company" they
compared their synthetic motor oil with. Problem
is, comparing an oil with one company is useless,
they can pick one that doesn't rate with them, they
need to pick all the leading competitors for the test
to be meaningful. They need to show the
numerical results and list the companies.
I think they bank on a public that will accept claims
not based on anything tangible. Unfortunately too
many folks are so used to being fooled they accept
advertising without asking any questions or doing
any research. Don't be fooled, I've done the work

smarter and wise than ever before.

MY INTERESTS
I have a number of hobbies but building Hot Rods and
customs has always been my favorite. I have worked on
cars, trucks and hot rods since I was big enough to pick up
a wrench. I worked at a garage and a couple dealerships
as a mechanic out of high school in Modesto California
back in the 60's.

Pleasanton CA. I'm still as excited about Amsoil

much as I did back in the 60's.
If there is one thing I'm good at it's working on
cars and I love building hot rods. Amsoil just
makes the car hobby adventure more exciting
because it is a product that really does work like
the people at Amsoil Inc. says it does. You don't
find that very often these days with big claims
they make about products on TV. It's usually a
big disappointment when you buy a product
that's supposed to do something great and it
doesn't work quite the way they said it would.

wouldn't use anything else. I wouldn't use
conventional petroleum based motor oil, ATF,
gear oil, or another brand of synthetic lubricant
besides Amsoil, even if you gave it to me free. It
is really refreshing to find a product that is as
good as they say it is. Amsoil has been the
benchmark in the oil industry since 1972.
After using Amsoil I find myself wondering why
anyone would spend $30,000, $40,000 or even
more on a new car or truck and then put "$1.25
conventional oil" in it. It takes five or six years
to pay off a new car. Don't wear out your car or

no oil changes, I only change the less then one micron
bypass oil filter and SDF full flow filter every 25,000 miles
on my Jeep and every 15,000 miles on my Dodge Ram
Diesel. I don't have to change the oil.
2) Amsoil Saves me tons of time not having to change
oil every 3000 miles.
3) AMSOIL 2-Stage Air Filters filter down to l-micron
and are reusable indefinitely. 50% more air flow more
power and mpg. I don't buy air filters anymore and I only
have to clean it with dish soap and warm water once a
year, re-oil it with AMSOIL Filter Foam Oil. I Don't buy
Air Filters and I save $ every time I clean the Amsoil
2-Stage Reusable Air Filter.
4) By using the Less Than 1-micron Bypass Filtration
